Our History
Home for Good has its origins in the affordable housing work begun by Pablo Group’s Urban Living Homes.
In 2018, Urban Living Homes began to scan the market for traditionally single family homes that had been converted into rentals.
The vision was to repair and rejuvenate what might be beyond the capacity for a typical first-time home-buyer, then rent the renovated properties to families experiencing housing insecurity at affordable and accessible rates.
In downtown Eau Claire, only about 10% of the residential housing stock is owner occupied, and home prices and rent rates have steadily increased - making the market more prohibitive for low-income families.
Home for Good emerged to fill the need for an independent, non-profit organization to serve the growing number of individuals and families who call these properties home.
Home for Good of Eau Claire received its non-profit status in the Spring of 2022. In June of the same year we purchased and took over the leases of 10 affordable-housing rental properties.
As the need emerged for more comprehensive support services for Home for Good's families, we added the position of Family Advocate & Relations Coordinator, and established a subcontracting relationship with C.C. We Adapt to offer Tenancy Support Mentorship.
In June of 2023, Home for Good voted to work towards establishing a community land trust within the organization. This will create a new pathway to homeownership for families, while developing and expanding affordable, sustainable family housing options in Eau Claire.
